Jeanne Guy

Jeanne Guy, writer and educator, has facilitated workshops and classes since 1995.  Her popular “Your Life is Your Art: You Are the Artist!” workshop, taught semester after semester to capacity classes at the Seton Cove, an Austin, Texas interfaith spirituality center, is a 14-week workshop based on Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way.  At the request of her students, she also created and offers an advanced class, “The Power of Your Story: When You’re Ready to Re-Story Your Life” which has met with great success.

Her irreverent sense of humor coupled with her encouraging and experiential facilitation style creates a deeply comfortably space for participants to shape their lives through “daily practice” tools, the foundation of which is journal writing.  “If you’re not creating your life story, who is?” she quips.  “By rethinking and reimagining your life, you can choose to create your life rather than live by default.  I can’t create your story, but you can, ” she continues.  “And that’s why these workshops are immensely successful.”

A graduate of Indiana University and Leadership Austin, she is currently writing a creative non-fiction about the kidnapping of her older two children.  Jeanne is a member of the National Story Circle Network Board of Directors, the Seton Cove, The Crossings Retreat Center Program Advisory Board, and the Writers’ League of Texas.  She has served on several civic boards including the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce, Pflugerville Chamber of Commerce, and Zachary Scott Theatre Center and is a past recipient of the Sam Walton Community Leadership Award and Zachary Scott’s Volunteer of the Year Award.
